Believe it or not?
Did you know that roof rats can climb vertical steel I-beams from floors to ceilings?
They accomplish this feat by gripping both sides of the I beams flange then climb it like you or I would climb the rope in a gym to the ceiling. Alternating pulling up with hands or front paws, then pushing up with our legs. I never would have believed it if I hadn't seen the evidence of the dirty rub marks clearly on the white paint of the beams going 24 feet up to the ceiling. Believe it or not. Thought I saw a rat wearing a cape and fixing to leap off....
